The institute invites interns from a wide range of research topics.
Short-term internship (1 day to 1 week)
Experiencing on site research projects
Research topics:
Corals (coral taxonomy, coral eco-physiology, coral symbiosis, coral and climate change research), jellyfish, precious corals, coral-eating organisms, marine conservation, etc.
Examples of intern research work in the past:
・Preparing and organizing biological specimens
・Learning how to monitor coral with a snorkel
・Breeding various organisms
・Camping assistance for elementary school students
・Searching for themes for graduation project research.
Institutions that we’ve accepted interns from: vocational schools, national and public universities, private universities, etc.

Long-term internship (1 week to 6 months)
Each participant decides on a theme and works independently on their theme while receiving guidance from researchers and helping with the work
*We also accept students who are working on their graduation, master’s, or doctoral theses during their long-term stay at the institute.
Internship costs
Example) Using the facilities of the training building and research building (students) (duration: 2 nights, 3 days)
Accommodation
Admission fee: 500 yen
Accommodation (2 nights): 500 yen x 2 nights
Facility usage fee (3 days): 500 yen x 3 days
Total: 3,000 yen
