2020年9月20日付けで学術雑誌「Ichthyological Research」から小枝研究員の新種記載論文がオンライン出版されました。
今回の新種はサメのような姿をしたエイの仲間で、水族館で人気のシノノメサカタザメの仲間です。
新種の学名はRhynchobatus mononoke Koeda, Itou, Yamada & Motomura, 2020、新標準和名としてモノノケトンガリサカタザメ を提唱しました。

今回の記載に用いたうちの1標本は当研究所の魚類コレクション（KBF-I）として初めての模式標本となりました。
